“Your mind ultimately is your greatest asset. So be very careful of what kind of advice you put in it and who gives you that advice.” Robert Kiyosaki

Having attended Seminars and events since the mid 1980’s and spending thousands of hours and dollars studying with various Speakers and Presenter’s I have decided to put together this brief overview based on my experience as both a guide and a warning to those people who chose to come into the seminar world.

At one stage I was considered a bit of a Seminar Junkie by my family & friends but, today I am a Seminar Veteran who carefully chooses and selects the events that I attend.

Jim Rohn (one of my mentors) gave me this advice – “Be Skeptical” – He said “Don’t believe anything I say, go out and question it and confirm the truth for yourself”. And I say to you, in fact I urge you, to do the same.

Be aware that you will be in a closed environment (for 2 to 3 days) that is controlled by the speaker, organizer and promoter of this seminar – your mind will be open to their information and suggestion – all I can say is guard your mind. All the exercises and content are designed for a purpose and while they appear innocent enough they may not taking you in the direction that you think you want to go.

Be aware that this is a business – The seminar may be presented as “Education” but in reality it is an elongated sales pitch designed to make the presenter look good and get you to buy from them or do business with them – It’s a 2 – 3 day long infomercial generally with a number of sales pitches throughout seminar and one at the end.

If the Speaker says that they are not there to sell you anything – then I suggest you walk (no actually run) away. These events are generally designed on follow this basic format. They first get you to a Free Preview (90 mins to 1 day) to sell you a 2 to 3 day event ( priced at $2,000 to $5,000) that leads to a one year mentoring programme that sells for $20,000 plus – in addition to selling a number of other Tools and products that you must have – That is the reality of it.

Be aware of the Presentation style of the Speaker. This is of great importance as some Speakers will use the Guru or Saviour approach to make themselves out as the Expert.

This form of teaching involves using stories or examples of incidents to explain a topic.
It is designed to present a problem, use an example and then present a solution showing the speaker as the Saviour and the one with ALL the answers.

BEWARE that this type of presentation can be crafted to sow seeds of fear and insert self doubt into your mind! It is designed to cause to audience to view the presenter/speaker as somewhat of Saviour, Guru, Queen Bee and to create followers out of the audience members. These stories and examples are then repeated in a different format over and over within the closed environment for 2 or 3 days. In my opinion, this is dangerous form of presentation as it is designed to create fear and doubt in the minds of the audience and can lead to dependence on the speaker’s services – which is exactly what it is designed to do. (Some people call this Brainwashing).

The second type of presentation style is designed to increase your emotional response and as Robert Kiyosaki says “When emotions go up – Intelligence goes down” causing you to get caught up in the hype and excitement of the moment and generally that gets you to buy into the product or service being promoted.

Finally there is the third type of presentation it’s the one used by the Master Speakers and that is one that that actually educates, inspires and empowers the audience to be the best that they can be. The idea is to actually pass on knowledge and information and actually allow audience members to learn and grow and use the strategies taught for themselves without having to rely on a Guru. You a feel to do business with or use the presenter services only if you chose to – there are no subliminal tricks used to gain your confidence or your business. It’s an authentic presentation.

By being aware of what is happening within the seminar environment you can take the necessary action to protect your mind.
Finally, Be clear on what outcome you want from the seminar. I can guarantee you that the presenter and promoter are very clear on the outcome they want and that is for you to get out your cash or credit card and put your money in their pocket. It’s up to you to get value for your time however it’s the presenters job to give you value for your money. If you don’t get what was promised or what you expected then ask for a refund.

Remember “Your mind ultimately is your greatest asset. So be very careful of what kind of advice you put in it and who gives you that advice.” Robert Kiyosaki

So who am I to be giving you this information?
My name is Michael Andjelkovic and I am a seminar Veteran having attended Lots and Lots of Seminars since the mid 1980’s including but not limited to Dymphna Boholt, Carly Crutchfield, Mark Rolton, Anthony Robbins, Sir Richard Branson, Robert Kiyosaki , Mark Bouris, Sean Somerville, Peter Spann, Tom McCarthy, Henry Kaye, Pat Mesiti, Ari Galper, Christopher Howard, Zig Ziglar, Tom Hopkins, E James Rohn, Zig Ziglar, General Norman Schwartkopf, Kevin Trudeau, Rene Rivkin, Al Dunlap, Dr John Tickell, Mikhail Gorbachov, John Burley, John Fitzgerald, Brian Tracey and many, many others

Why am I providing this Information?
Over the years I have watched the seminar industry be turned from a place of gaining valuable information and knowledge into a pitchfest where the speakers and promoters get rich leaving the audience without much value for their investment of time or money. My opinion is some presenters have turned seminars away from educating and empowering people to go out and be the best that they can be and have turned them into a tool to create dependent clients who are now fearful of going out and doing things for themselves.

What do I hope to Achieve?
My hope is that by sharing my knowledge and experience it will create awareness of what is happening in the seminar industry and it will inspire and enlighten people on how to get the best value for their time and money from seminars. It will encourage you to stand up and be the best that you can be by getting a great education NOT just be Sold to and it will stop others from wasting time and money as I have in the past.
